Channels of grace
Christ instituted the sacraments as efficacious signs of grace. We would be honored to help you receive them.
In the East the Mysteries of initiation are given together, as they were in the early Church: a child is baptized by immersion, sealed with holy chrism, and receives the Eucharist that same day — and every Sunday after.
Call Fr. Michael a few months ahead. Parents and godparents meet with him twice; the second time, in church, to walk through the service.
The Divine Liturgy is the centre of our life. The Body and Blood of Christ are given together from a spoon, to infants and grown-ups alike. Catholics of every rite may receive with us.
Fast from food for an hour before Communion. Visitors are warmly welcome at the chalice; simply come forward with the others.
Confession is heard before the icon of Christ, the priest standing beside you rather than behind a screen: a conversation with the physician of souls.
Saturdays before Vespers, Sundays during Matins, or any day by calling Fr. Michael.
The Church prays over the sick with oil, asking healing of soul and body. It is served in church each Holy Wednesday for everyone, and at any bedside at any hour.
Call the parish office, or Fr. Michael directly in an emergency; he answers his phone.
In the Byzantine rite bride and groom are crowned as martyrs and as king and queen of a new household, walk three times around the table with the priest, and share the common cup.
Speak with Fr. Michael at least six months before the date you have in mind.
Crowning preparation
In the Byzantine rite the couple is crowned. Six evenings with Fr. Michael and Pani Anna on prayer, money, family and the service itself.
Begin six months before the wedding
Fr. Michael Hrabar
The Eastern Churches ordain married men as well as celibates to the diaconate and priesthood. Our parish has given the Church four priests and two deacons since 1903.
If you sense a call, talk with Fr. Michael or Deacon Paul — over coffee is fine.
We sing the Parastas the evening before, the funeral in the morning, and 'Memory Eternal' on the fortieth day and every anniversary after.
Call the office day or night; the Myrrhbearers will see to the lunch.
